After much reflection and soul-searching, I’ve decided to close my studio at Lowe Mill in Huntsville. You can still find Jim and Jennifer there at Studio 120. I am also up at Huntsville Art Supplies often teaching!
It’s a bittersweet moment, but one that feels right for this season of my life and career. Lowe Mill has been a vibrant hub for creativity, community, and collaboration. It offered me a space to grow, showcase my artwork, and connect with other artists and art lovers. I will always cherish the memories I’ve made there and the friendships I’ve forged. 🌟🎨✨
But as seasons change, so do priorities. As much as I loved being at Lowe Mill, I realized I needed a workspace that aligns more closely with my current needs—a space that reflects not just my art but also the balance I seek between work, family, and personal time. That’s why I’ve transitioned to working from my home studio, a space that has become a sanctuary for creativity. 🏡🌱💡
Why I Love My Home Studio
My home studio is a reflection of me: functional, organized, and filled with tools that inspire productivity and creativity. It’s not just a room in my house; it’s a carefully curated space designed for making art, managing my business, and finding joy in the process. 🎨✨🏠
Here’s a peek into what makes it so special:
A Sit-Stand Desk for Flexibility
Gone are the days of sitting for hours on end. My sit-stand desk allows me to switch positions throughout the day, keeping me comfortable and energized. Whether I’m sketching designs, answering emails, or working on a new collection, I can adjust my setup to suit my needs. 🪑💻🔄
Dedicated Tables for Watercolor and Sewing (that desk is a hot mess!)
Having separate tables for sewing and watercolor painting has been a game-changer. No more clearing off one project to start another! My sewing table is always ready for creating textiles or experimenting with fabric designs, while my watercolor table is perfectly arranged for mixing paints and letting creativity flow. ✂️🎨🖌️
Printers Galore
As a surface designer and artist, my work often moves from paper to product. My home studio is equipped with a photo printer for high-quality art reproductions, and a laser printer for smaller, detailed projects. These tools give me the flexibility to handle various tasks in-house, streamlining my workflow and ensuring quality. 🖨️📸✨
A Space to Thrive
While I’ll miss the bustling energy of Lowe Mill, my home studio offers me the peace and flexibility to explore new ideas and expand my creative horizons. It’s a place where I can focus deeply on my art while staying close to my family—a balance that’s become increasingly important to me. 🌼🕊️❤️
Transitioning to a home studio has also given me more control over my time and resources. Without the commute and the additional responsibilities of maintaining an external studio, I’ve found more time to invest in new projects, including my bridal bouquet commission service and other personal endeavors. ⏳🌸💼
Looking Ahead
This change marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter. While I’ll always look back fondly on my time at Lowe Mill, I’m thrilled to see where this next phase takes me. My home studio is more than a workspace; it’s a reflection of my journey as an artist and a testament to the importance of creating a space that supports your dreams. 🌟✨🚀
