Everyday Update: Finding Magic in the Little Things

Everyday Update: Finding Magic in the Little Things

Dedicated to a beautiful soul and beloved friend, who taught me how to truly see.

It’s easy to chase the big moments. The milestones, the accomplishments, the grand plans. But life—real, vibrant, soul-stirring life—isn’t just in the fireworks. It’s in the flicker of a candle, the quiet laughter between friends, the way someone says your name like a hug.

This week, I’ve been thinking a lot about those little sparks. The everyday magic that we too often rush past. And I’ve been thinking about someone very dear to me who never missed them.

I met her in 1997. I was young and bright-eyed, and she was my client. A professional connection, sure—but she had that rare kind of energy that wrapped around you like a warm shawl. She was sharp, generous, grounded. Over time, we went from client to friend, from friend to co-worker, from co-worker to trusted collaborator. We shared ideas, dreams, coffee breaks, and heart-to-hearts. She became one of my touchstones.

She recently passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. Just 55. It’s a number that feels too small for a life so wide.

In these quiet, reflective moments, I find myself remembering the ways she noticed the world. The way she really looked at people—eyes full of understanding, heart wide open. She was the kind of person who didn’t just ask how you were—she listened to the answer. She had a gift for loving people exactly as they were. No performance required. No fixing needed. She saw the whole of you and smiled anyway.

She reminded me—without ever having to say it—that there is magic in the mundane. That a lunch date could be a lifeline. That color on a wall could shift your whole mood. That laughter on a hard day was a kind of medicine.

And that’s what I want to carry forward. That’s what I want you to carry forward, too.

Let’s look up from our phones. Let’s reach out first. Let’s say the kind word, buy the silly card, send the photo just because. Let’s notice how the light dances on the floor in the afternoon, how someone’s laugh makes you feel like home. Let’s give people the space to be fully themselves—and love them wildly for it.

This post isn’t about art or design or the next big thing. It’s about presence. It’s about noticing. It’s about honoring the people who show us how to live by living well themselves.

To my dear friend—thank you. For your love, your courage, your impeccable taste, and your honest laughter. You were one of the great ones. And I will keep looking for the magic, just like you did. Every single day.

🦋 For Her, With Love

She always loved butterflies—those quiet symbols of grace and transformation.

Delicate, but never weak.

Free, but always present.

Just like her.

This one, gifted to her with love, now feels like a whisper from beyond:

"I'm still with you. Keep finding the magic."

R.H. Sin:

"Some souls leave behind a trail of light that no darkness can ever erase."

With love,

Jules
